Teapot / Yutaro Yamada / Shudei / Side handle

Sale price¥22,000

These teapots are made by Yutaro Yamada, one of Tokoname's leading young artists.

[Ease of Use]

A major characteristic of his work is its ease of handling.
It is made to be very light, so you can pour hot water without feeling it's heavy.

Its size is also small, making it easy for women to handle.

All the holes in the tea strainer are handmade. They are very fine, so you can use it without issue even for fukamushi sencha (deep-steamed green tea).

Since the tea strainer is custom-made to the size of each teapot and the angle at which it is attached is also adjusted, every teapot offers excellent water drainage, making the moment of pouring a delight.

The handle is also distinctive; as shown in the image, you hold it by gripping it between your index and middle fingers.
This makes it easier to turn your hand and stabilizes the pouring of hot water. With a regular teapot, this grip would feel heavy and put a slight strain on your hand when filled with hot water, but Yutaro-san's teapots offer a comfortable fit and lightness that doesn't cause strain.

Recommended water volume: 100ml to 120ml (Please fill it to the middle of the tea strainer as a guide.)

[Design]

The design's key features are the type of clay and its fine texture.
He personally searches for clay from the mountains of Tokoname. By letting it rest for several years to remove impurities, the surface achieves a beautiful finish with fewer scratches.

This particular clay is characterized by its red color, known as "shudei," which is commonly seen in Tokoname ware. This clay has been left to rest for four years. Also, while typical shudei teapots have additives to enhance their color, this one uses only clay, resulting in a slightly matte, subdued hue.

Another feature is its very fine texture. It is filtered about twice as finely as usual, making the surface very smooth and silky to the touch. It feels pleasant to hold, and a user-friendly teapot like this enriches your home.
