Producer's Profile / Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture (Uji Tea) / Eiji Nakamura of "Baicha Nakamura"

Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture. It is a well-known major tea producing region.

Eiji Nakamura was born into the family of Nakamura Tokichi Honten, a tea merchant that has been in business for over 170 years, so tea has always been a familiar presence to him.

After training for over six years at a tea farm in Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, he opened a shop called "Baicha Nakamura" in Uji City in 2022.

Its main characteristic is the tea processing machine installed in the shop, born from the desire to "let people drink freshly processed tea."

Normally, the tea processing is completed by tea farmers or wholesalers, but they intentionally purchase raw leaves, freeze them, and process them in the shop.

Also, because they have a tea processing machine, they can also make hand-rolled tea, and they also offered experiences that the general public could participate in.

I also participated. I still can't forget the感動 (impression/emotion) I felt when I drank the hand-rolled tea that everyone made together over six hours. It was so smooth to drink, yet I could still taste the tea clearly. I was captivated by its very elegant flavor.

Baicha Nakamura also functions as a tea wholesaler. Shiragi Sabo also handles the tea that only Mr. Nakamura, with his extensive knowledge and sales experience to the general public, can source.

This is a wonderful sencha from Minamiyamashiro Village, which is what comes to mind when thinking of traditional Uji tea!

Please give it a try!
